Anhad + Tanner, hailing from New Delhi, India and Durham, North Carolina bring together a completely fresh and contemporary touch to Asian underground music with their debut record “In Other Words”. Navigating through the territories of Hindustani music and interpreting it in a cutting edge sonic pallet driven by strong electronic sensibilities, this album is a myriad of their vast influences. Opening tune “Jiya II” is their ode to their early collaboration which set in motion the plans to come together as a full time duo. While “Haari”, “Gum” and “Asheville” transcend into a very electronic colour scheme – “Coming Home”, “Naina” and “Childhood”
balances the record with a strong interplay of organic sounds. Cinematic in its truest sense, this record automatically scores an interesting story each song holds.
